Mooloolah Drive

Location: Minyama, Sunshine Coast QLD
Completed: 2021
Builder: Koncept Constructions

The original house was a leaky and mouldy 80s house. DCM were engaged to transform it into a fresh modern design that would take the house and the clients through their next stage in life. The house is also on a prestige street and surrounded by large houses so the clients wanted to make a statement and make sure it wasn’t out of place with the others around it. Which we achieved.

The client’s were generally happy with the existing layout, pool and deck but it needed to be opened up and tweaked slightly to remove the awkward flow through the house. There were also columns and multiple steps to contend with and 2 staircases to access different parts of level one.

Two of the major changes we made were to combine these stairs and incorporate a bridge to link the 2 previously separate spaces. We removed the low pitching points of the ceilings and replaced with voluminous light-filled voids.

The stand-out feature is the new stair and entry voids. And as you walk into the entry the house now opens up to stunning light-filled space with pool, sky and canal vistas.

We were really proud of being able to deliver a design that truly transformed this home for our clients.
